Welcome to our project! We are the Learning Center team, consisting of Alexa, Kate, Jimmy, Scott, and Tess. Our collaborators are the Fundația Regală Margareta a României (FRMR for short), which translates to the Princess Margareta of Romania Foundation.

In a movement to combat early school dropouts in Romania, the Fundația Regală Margareta a României (FRMR) created its Generations’ Centres program, which combine after-school and day programs for children and resource centers for the elderly. The centers are designed in a way where underprivileged students receive tutoring, mentorship, and companionship from elderly and retired volunteers. The FRMR aims to enhance these centers by integrating technology into their daily programs, and our team was asked to redesign one particular center in a way which incorporates technology into their existing program. The FRMR has three main goals for the redesign of the center: to improve student performance, to attract additional sponsors, donors, and volunteers, and to be replicable in other centers. Our project will work to take this information and use it to design a fun, safe, and technology based intergenerational learning center targeted at underprivileged children in order to help them keep up with their classmates both academically and socially.
